What did you do before working at PetFirst Pet Insurance?: Before coming to PetFirst, I worked retail at Dillard’s and Managed a Movie Theatre for quite some time.
What attracted you to come work at PetFirst?: I was attracted to PetFirst because it is an extremely unique company that not only cares about its policy holders, but its employees and their pets as well.
What is one of your favorite things about working at PetFirst?:PetFirst is different than any place I have worked in the past. Everyone is a friend and we all work together to create the best experience for our policy holders. I am a full-time student and PetFirst has been flexible with my schedule to allow me to finish my degree and better myself.
What is your ultimate dream job?: My dream job would be to work for a great company, such as PetFirst, while helping promote their company and brand image through Promotional Marketing and advertising.
What is your life motto?: My life motto would be to love what you do and strive to be the best that you can be at whatever you’re doing.
What was your first pet, and what was their name?: My very first pet was actually a stray cat that my mom found hanging around our house that she started feeding and eventually letting in the house. He was a big gray and white cat she named T.C. which was short for Tom Cat. My mom said that once I was born he would sleep with me every night until I fell asleep, then he would come downstairs and lay on the couch. My mom later said that T.C. must have been short for Tamzin’s Cat.
Are you a dog or a cat person?: I am equally as much a cat person as I am a dog person. I have both a dog and a cat and I love them both equally but for different reasons.
If you were an animal, what type of animal would you be and why?: If I were an animal, I would be a horse. I have always loved horses and I currently own five of them. Our horses are like big dogs. They follow you, play with toys, and lick you if it’s hot outside. I think they are beautiful and have the best personalities.
What is your most memorable animal or pet experience?: I was in 4-H for Horses for 10 years. This would be overall my most memorable animal experience. I loved showing and competing and the relationshipsthat I made through the 4-H program are ones that I willremember and cherish.
If you’re not working, where can you usually be found?: I am not working, I can be found at the University of Louisville Library. I am a full-time student and that is where I spend most, if not all, of my free time.
You get to talk to a lot of pet owners, what is your favorite pet name you’ve run across working at PetFirst?: My favorite pet name that I have run across since working at PetFirst was a dog named Makana Koa. Of course I asked the Policy holder what was the meaning behind the name because it was beautiful, and she explained that it means “Gifted Warrior” in Hawaiian.
