IT Manager

The IT Manager will oversee all aspects of PetFirst’s IT including management of IT personnel, IT projects and IT vendors.  He or she will align IT systems and strategy to support PetFirst’s goals.  The IT Manager will also be responsible for maintaining and further developing our internally-developed software.  This position will be responsible for taking requirements from the business and leading a team of developers to a solution using the C# programming language, ASP.NET, MVC and other relevant tools.  Knowledge of SQL and database design is also required.  The IT Manager will provide overall direction and guidance to all IT initiatives with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all IT functions by architecting and managing projects and initiatives consistent with established goals, objectives and policies.
  • Implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.
  • Act as day-to-day manager of IT team.
  • Act as liaison for all outsourced IT vendors and partners.
  • Work with business stakeholders to develop technical solutions to meet business needs.
  • Manage and lead system development projects.
  • Code source control and change management.
  • Develop and maintain controls to ensure code is written and maintained according to best practices.
  • Maintain proper testing procedures and introduce new procedures as necessary to reduce risk of system errors and improve quality control.
  • Work with Executive Team to understand future business opportunities and present a rolling annual road map for planning and forecasting resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with partners on outsourced projects to ensure project goals can be supported by internal systems.
  • Participate in budgeting and planning process to ensure necessary additions and upgrades are properly planned and scheduled.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of the .NET Framework, ASP.NET, MVC and C#.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, and database design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and AJAX technologies.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and enterprise architecture.
  • Knowledge of Windows Communication Foundation.
  • Experience with unit testing using a unit testing framework.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team of developers. 
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Results-oriented with ability to work effectively with teams under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work with people of varying roles and personalities.
  • Strong desire to succeed.

 

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous management or leadership experience.

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of IT management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or relevant experience.
