Triumphant Samantha Daisey: Defeating a Brain Tumor

Twelve year old Golden-Retriever, Samantha Daisey is a recognizable name around the PetFirst office. So popular in fact that members of the PetFirst Claims team keep her picture at their desks.

Samantha Daisey has been a PetFirst policy holder since she was 8-weeks old. Fortunately, her mom Linda never had to file a claim for an accident or illness for the first 8 years of Daisey’s life. As Samantha Daisy has gotten older having dog insurance has come in handy. It became even more important in September of 2017 when a tumor was discovered in Daisey’s brain.

They began SRS (sterotactic radiosurgery) radiation treatment which targeted the specific area of the tumor. Throughout the whole process Linda said the PetFirst Customer Experience team was “awesome” and all of her claims were filed quickly and without questions. The total costs for diagnostics and treatment for Samantha Daisey’s tumor totaled over $10,000, PetFirst was able to reimburse 90% of these costs.

Today we are happy to report that Samantha Daisey’s tumor is no longer visible and she still receives monthly ultrasounds in order to monitor any growth.  Linda hopes that by sharing their story other pet parents will become more aware of the unexpected and costly events that can occur. With her experience, she couldn’t imagine not having pet insurance. And for the PetFirst team, we’ll continue to display Samantha Daisey’s photo because she is a reminder of why we come to work everyday.
